Oui Naturals' Shave Soaps have the most incredibly dense, slickest lather you can imagine. These Shave Soaps are not simply our regular soap formulas with the addition of clays as are many small batch "shave" soaps. Oui Naurals' Shave Soap formulation was developed from scratch as a result of my husband's challenge to craft a shave soap that would make his very thick, tough beard stand up and pay attention, yet leave his face moisturized and soft rather than dry and battle-hardened. I've actually developed a Shave System (Shave Cream and Shave Soap) that is fabulous for wetshavers - both traditional, straight blade aficionados and for those who prefer safety razors. This system will extend the life of your safety razors FAR past the point when a used razor will usually start to drag and irritate; Jody has been able to use the same expensive MACH blade for two months with a close, drag-free shave on his thick, rough beard. Oui Naturals' Shave System has also completely elimintated his problem with annoying ingrown hairs.
Most of our Shave Soaps are formulated with a huge amount of beef tallow, though we do have a vegan version for those who prefer it. Saponified beef tallow produces a high percentage of oleic acid. Oleic acid is a non-essential fatty acid that is found in human sebum. Oleic acid is a very effective emollient and moisturizer, and it aids in skin regeneration and in reducing inflammation. It is readily absorbed by the skin and can help absorption of other important molecules like omega-3 fatty acids. Once almost universally used in shave soaps for its slick lathering properties, excellent beef tallow-based shave soaps are now more difficult to find. Of course, just because a shaving soap is beef tallow-based doesn't immediately mean it's fabulous, but we think you will find Oui Naturals' Shave Soaps on par with and, in some cases, better than the best tallow-based shave soaps out there. Five-plus ounces at cutting, this is a very emollient bar with a ridiculously long-lasting dense lather. Please note that our beef tallow-based soaps are fairly thirsty; you will need several additions of water to get the best, highest, densest lather.
These bars can be easily trimmed to fit into a mug or holder if you prefer. I just hold one in my hand to soap, then give it a quick rinse and set it short-width down on our lovely Pine Soap Dish/Deck.
Also, these shave soaps are perfectly fine to use on ladies' lovely legs - and other lady areas, too!
